In particular, the head of the Ministry of Infrastructure, Volodymyr Omelyan, mentioned such promising directions in a conversation with Bloomberg.
“The road bypassing the capital and the highway connecting Kyiv with the Black Sea port of Odesa may well be among the most attractive projects for investors,” the official noted.
The payment for using the roads will be purely nominal, but such a measure is expected to replenish the treasury, and the funds received will go to repair works. Omelyan also added that the authorities are working on the option of transferring federal highways to private hands.
The department expects that the relevant law on concession will be adopted in Parliament, and the road network strategy will be prepared together with the World Bank by the end of this year or at the beginning of 2017.
