The situation around Nexperia, one of the main chip manufacturers, poses a threat to Europe's automotive industry. At the end of September, the Dutch authorities temporarily established control over this enterprise, explaining their decision by the desire to keep important technologies within the EU. As a result, supplies of products from Nexperia's Asian plants have decreased, which was immediately felt by production chains.
The German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA) warned: if the disruptions drag on, it will hit the entire European automotive industry, as selecting and certifying alternative suppliers requires considerable time.
This crisis will not bypass Ukraine either. In 2025, Volkswagen maintains its position as one of the most sought-after brands among new cars in our market, regularly being in the top three in terms of registrations. Demand for the Golf, Tiguan, Passat models, as well as for the electric ID.4 and ID.7 produced in China, is constantly growing.
Therefore, even short-term downtime at plants in Germany can affect the delivery times of certain car versions to Ukraine. However, the company assures: the stoppage is temporary and will not affect the fulfillment of orders.
