Experts studied more than 300,000 real records and found that on average, annual car maintenance in the UK costs £756.45 (over 40 thousand hryvnias). If you count over the entire service life of the car, it comes to about £13,500, i.e., more than 760 thousand hryvnias (at the Ministry of Finance exchange rate as of July 8). However, there are models on which you can save significantly more.
Below are the top five cars with the lowest repair costs according to Mirror:
5th place — Kia CEED
This model requires approximately £615 per year (34 thousand hryvnias) for maintenance. The car is known for its durability and solid build, and Kia's warranty obligations further reduce the likelihood of unexpected expenses. Due to the great popularity of the CEED, spare parts and services are easy to find at reasonable prices, which also makes repairs cheaper.
4th place — Peugeot 2008
Annual maintenance of this car costs only £613 (approximately 34,500 hryvnias). It is a compact crossover that is equally well suited for city driving and family trips. An extensive network of services and inexpensive components ensure convenient and wallet-friendly care.
3rd place — Dacia Sandero
Annual costs here amount to £602 (33,900 hryvnias). Thanks to its simple design and cheap parts, owners can save significantly. As What Car? analysts note, in 2024 Dacia ranked 6th out of 31 in reliability — this adds confidence to those who value peace of mind.
2nd place — Opel Grandland X
Only £600 per year (about 33,800 hryvnias), which is 22% less than the average. This model shares a platform with Peugeot, so its components are widely available and inexpensive, and repairs are performed faster and at lower cost.
1st place — Hyundai i20
The most economical option: £580 annually (32,700 hryvnias), which is 25% below the average. In the What Car? reliability rating for 2025, the i20 made it into the top four in its category, and Hyundai overall took 10th place among 31 manufacturers.
