According to calculations by the analytical company JATO Dynamics, 1.187 million Toyota RAV4 vehicles were sold worldwide in a year, which exceeds 2023 figures by 11%. In turn, Tesla Model Y finished the year with a result of 1.185 million cars sold, which is 3% less than a year earlier. Thus, the gap between these two models was just over 2 thousand units.

Analysts explain the growing interest in the RAV4 by the appearance of a new generation of the crossover, which completely abandoned classic gasoline engines in favor of hybrid systems. This technical solution made the model significantly more attractive to car owners who pay attention to fuel consumption and care about the environment.

In addition to the RAV4, the top ten most popular cars on the planet included four more Toyota representatives: Corolla Cross, Corolla Sedan, Hilux, and Camry. The ranking also included Tesla Model Y and Model 3, as well as Honda CR-V, Ford F-150, and the Chinese sedan BYD Qin.

To stimulate interest in the Model Y, Tesla brought to market an updated version of the electric crossover with the code name Juniper. However, due to declining sales in many regions, particularly in the European market, the company failed to avoid an overall decline for the year.
