Company engineers believe that a manual gearbox can no longer fully unlock the potential of sports cars, unlike modern robotic transmissions with dual clutches. It is on such gearboxes that Ferrari will bet in the foreseeable future.
The first-generation California coupe-cabriolet became the last model in the brand to be offered with a manual, but over the entire production cycle, only five such cars were sold.
Incidentally, two years ago, another Italian supercar manufacturer, Lamborghini, also abandoned the manual transmission.
