The Hyundai Xcent is based on the same platform as the Grand i10 hatchback. Under the hood, there can be a 1.2-liter petrol engine, familiar from the Grand i10, or a 1.4-liter diesel unit used in the i20 and Verna models. There are also two transmissions — manual or automatic.

Despite the car belonging to the budget segment, it has quite rich equipment: a pair of airbags, climate control, parking sensors, full electric package, Bluetooth support, and even a rearview camera. For the Indian market, this is almost luxury — it also includes a cooled glove box and push-button engine start.

The main rivals of the Xcent in India will be the recently introduced Ford Figo and the Tata ZEST shown a day earlier.
Sales of the model are scheduled to start in March 2014, with full technical details promised to be announced closer to the beginning of sales.
