The document has not been signed yet, but a significant part of the terms has already been agreed. Thus, parts for the Cee'd and Sportage models will be brought from Kia's production facility located in Slovakia, and components for the Sorento and Cerato will be delivered directly from Korea.
Kia expects that this step will help keep affordable prices for popular models and increase sales volumes. If we move away from theory, the abolition of special duties and the recycling fee can save at least 15% of the cost of each car. However, it is not worth waiting for the price tags on these cars to immediately become lower.
Importers pin their hopes on the abolition of special duties and the revision of recycling fee rates after the conclusion of the Association Agreement with the EU, which is scheduled for November of this year. To talk about real benefits, Kia needs significant production volumes in Ukraine, and it is still premature to judge this.
