The future SUV will be built on the technical platform of the Voyah and M-Hero brands, which are part of the Dongfeng structure. It is expected that the car will have a hybrid or fully electric powertrain developed by Chinese engineers, while Stellantis will be responsible for the design and overall concept. This collaboration model resembles the Chery and Jaguar Land Rover partnership within the Freelander project: the Chinese side takes on technology, and the European side shapes the image and positioning of the product.

For Stellantis and Dongfeng, this partnership is not their first joint project. The companies already have experience in co-producing Citroën and Peugeot models for the Chinese market. In 2025, they launched the Hedmos electric vehicle brand, which operates in the New Energy Vehicles segment. After Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa visited Dongfeng's office, the parties agreed to expand cooperation, focusing on electric and hybrid technologies.

According to the Economic Observer, the companies have already preliminarily agreed on plans to create a new Jeep model. Work on the car will take approximately a year and a half, with its presentation scheduled for the first quarter of 2027.

Previously, Jeep in China was produced at GAC's facilities, but due to weak sales, this production was closed in 2022. Now Stellantis hopes to regain the brand's lost positions in the Chinese market, leveraging Dongfeng's developments in electrification, autonomous driving, and digital technologies.

Experts suggest that the new Jeep could become a global product—after entering the Chinese market, it may also be introduced in other markets. If this partnership proves successful, it will open a new chapter in the history of the Jeep brand—already in the electric era. As for the Ukrainian market, the success of the model is beyond doubt.
