In essence, the Grandis is the same Renault Symbioz that Europeans already know well, but with a different face. This approach is nothing new for Mitsubishi: the company has previously produced the Colt on the Renault Clio platform, and the ASX crossover was essentially a copy of the Renault Captur. However, in the case of the Grandis, the Japanese did not simply put their badge on it — the front end of the car has undergone serious changes. The crossover has received a recognizable appearance with signature grille and optics in the Dynamic Shield style, making it more "Mitsubishi-like."
The dimensions of the new Grandis are 4.41 meters in length, so it confidently sits in the compact family crossover category. Inside, it is spacious and modern: in front of the driver is a digital instrument cluster, and in the center of the front panel is a vertical 10.4-inch touchscreen multimedia display. The rear row of seats can be slid along the cabin, allowing the trunk volume to be varied from 434 to 566 liters depending on the situation.
Even in the base version, the car impresses with its list of equipment: keyless entry, climate control, cruise control, rear-view camera, light and rain sensors, front and rear parking sensors, as well as a set of active safety assistants. In more loaded trims, surround-view cameras and a semi-autonomous driving system that partially takes over control on highways appear.
Under the hood of the new Grandis are two hybrid options. The first is a 1.3-liter turbocharged gasoline engine with 130 hp, complemented by mild hybrid technology. The second is a full hybrid unit with a displacement of 1.8 liters, producing 160 hp. In the combined cycle, such a car consumes approximately 4.5 liters of fuel per 100 km.
The starting price of the Mitsubishi Grandis 2026 is from 29,000 euros, which looks quite attractive for this segment. The company counts on the well-known name, modern design, and convenience-oriented technologies — and it seems that this "new-old" Grandis has a good chance of winning back customer favor, albeit in a different role.
