In the market for new passenger cars with diesel engines, this year recorded 19% of total sales, while last year this segment reached 24%. Among imported used cars, diesel versions account for 22%, and a year ago their share was 25%.

Considering the import structure: in the first six months, 6.4 thousand new diesel cars were delivered to Ukraine, which is 21% lower than the previous year's figures. In addition, 25.2 thousand used diesel cars were imported from abroad, which is 11% less compared to 2024.

The top five among new diesel models looks like this:

  • Renault Duster — 1,634 cars;

  • Toyota Land Cruiser Prado — 791 cars;

  • Volkswagen Touareg — 617 cars;

  • Volkswagen Tiguan — 466 cars;

  • Skoda Kodiaq — 355 cars.

Among used diesel cars, the most frequently chosen models were:

  • Renault Megane — 2,188 units;

  • Skoda Octavia — 1,707 units;

  • Nissan Qashqai — 1,660 units;

  • Volkswagen Passat — 1,396 units;

  • Volkswagen Golf — 874 units.

Despite the gradual decrease in demand, diesel cars do not lose the favor of Ukrainians due to their fuel efficiency and durability. At the same time, the decline in sales indicates a gradual shift in preferences towards electric cars and hybrid technologies.
