It should be noted that the Chinese copy is “licensed”, because the BAIC concern created the model with the participation of Daimler specialists. The car is slightly larger than the old Mercedes GLS – 5171 mm in length, 1995 mm in width and 1860 mm in height with a wheelbase of 3100 mm.

Moreover, the design avoided cloning, and the Beijing BJ90 is not at all similar to its donor. The updated model is recognizable by the slightly modified radiator grille and new LED headlights.

But in the cabin of the Beijing BJ90, the kinship with the Mercedes GLS is immediately visible. The instruments in separate wells and the switches on the central panel were borrowed from it.

The updated model received a new steering wheel and an enlarged multimedia touchscreen. Also, the base configuration was supplemented with three-zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, a panoramic roof, and an automatic braking system.
Available are Mercedes petrol turbo engines with a displacement of 3.0 L (333 hp) and 4.0 L (422 hp). A novelty is the 9-speed automatic transmission – also from the GLS. Both versions are all-wheel drive.
