Yes, if earlier such Audi hybrids were equipped with batteries with a capacity of 14.1 kWh, now they are 17.9-kilowatt-hour blocks. As a result, the range of cars on electric power alone has increased by 73 km according to the WLTP cycle (+20 km). This is quite enough to cover the need for movement around the city (using exclusively electricity).

The company emphasized that the increase in capacity was achieved by optimizing the structure of the battery cells. That is, it was done without increasing the mass or dimensions of the battery blocks themselves.

Another innovation – in addition to the existing modes “EV”, “Auto” and “Hold”, a new “Charge” has appeared. In it, the internal combustion engine continuously operates to replenish the energy reserve stored in the battery. Accordingly, the driver will be able to charge the battery in advance for a further trip in electric mode in cases when he does not have time to stop by or stop at an electric charging station.
