However, there are regions where car manufacturers allow themselves to literally play jokes on buyers, offering new cars that literally lack any comfort at all. And even if this "jalopy" holds the status of the cheapest car on the market.
The cheapest car (for Indochina) - what it even looks like
One such model is the new Daihatsu Ayla hatchback. It is sold in Indochina countries - particularly Malaysia and Indonesia. The car went on sale in 2020 and was announced as a new generation, but in fact the "new product" is built on the basis of its predecessor, which is based on a platform from a similarly sized Toyota model - the Toyota Wigo.

And while the car looks more or less attractive on the outside, thanks in part to promotional images of the new model in the spirit of Japanese anime, the interior is a complete disappointment. As soon as the car reached dealers, photos of its interior, which can indeed shock, began to be posted online.
The cheapest car - its base trim
So, in the base trim, this model has practically nothing. Absolutely nothing. The Daihatsu Ayla has no airbags, nor any other safety systems, no air conditioning, no cabin heating, and essentially no ventilation openings on the dashboard, which is also made of the cheapest plastic. Thus, the driver and passenger cannot even simply cool the cabin with a regular blower. Hot? Roll down the window!

On the center console, all the spaces allocated for possible equipment are blocked - there are no ventilation control buttons, nor even a slot for a cassette player. Absolutely nothing! The only button on the entire console is the hazard light button. Right, minimalist design! And at the bottom, there is only a 12V socket and some kind of ashtray (you certainly can't call that compartment a niche or a pocket).
The cheapest car - price
On the bright side, the car at least has seat belts inside and headlights outside. The price of the cheapest car in Indonesia starts from 102 million 150 thousand local rupiahs, which is equivalent to 7,200 euros.
As for the technical part, the units in the base Daihatsu Ayla are also predictably modest: a 1.0-liter engine with 65 horsepower, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission.
