Fahrmitgas.de, part of Automobile Technik & Innovation GmbH, specializes in gas equipment systems. Its specialists have developed their own vision of the compact SUV Daihatsu Terios. The engine of the concept, named "Desert Mouse," has a displacement of 1.5 liters and produces 105 horsepower. Now this engine can run on liquefied gas. According to Fahrmitgas, such a conversion reduces harmful emissions by 10 percent and fuel costs by 50 percent.
The 46-liter gas cylinder is installed vertically in the trunk and covered with a camouflage-patterned cover, so it can easily be mistaken for a spare tire. The car's body is also wrapped in camouflage film, and the seats have covers in the same color scheme.
Body protection is provided by 60-millimeter steel roll bars, and additional roof lights were installed by Cobra Technology & Lifestyle. H&R widened the wheel arches, and thanks to 16-inch alloy wheels with BF Goodrich All Terrain 225/75 R16 tires, the track is now 30 millimeters wider at the front and 50 millimeters wider at the rear.
Additional equipment includes an iPod Touch that functions as a navigation device: it contains data on all gas filling stations. The car also has a projector that displays speedometer readings on the windshield.
Fahrmitgas is awaiting public reaction to the concept. If it is approved, the car will go into series production. However, individual components, including gas equipment, are already available for order through official Daihatsu dealers in Europe.
