The SUV has changed its generation following the "younger" Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban: in the top Denali version, the car has a completely new interior; for an extra charge, the model can be equipped with adaptive air suspension and an electronic rear differential lock.

There are not many differences from the "younger" Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban in the Yukon/Yukon XL — they mainly concern the exterior. The GMC has an original front end design, a different hood and fenders; at the rear — modified taillights with an additional section on the tailgate. Inside, a new steering wheel is installed, as well as a Power Sliding Center Console box between the front seats, which slides back 254 millimeters (offered for Denali, AT4, and SLT versions).

The top Yukon Denali modification for the first time can boast its own front panel with a multi-level architecture. However, the difference is only in design — the control unit on the central console, the instrument panel, and the multimedia system display are the same as on the regular versions. Premium materials are used for the interior trim of the Yukon Denali — natural leather and wood — and the SUV also has an expanded list of standard equipment.

The model's equipment includes fourth-generation Magnetic Ride Control adaptive suspension, a 15-inch head-up display, and a surround-view system with nine cameras. For an extra charge, a panoramic roof, air suspension with ground clearance adjustment (lowers or raises the body by 50 millimeters), 22-inch wheels, and Active Response 4WD all-wheel drive with a two-speed transfer case and electronic rear differential lock are available.

Following the GMC Canyon pickup, the Yukon also got an AT4 version for outdoor activities. Such SUVs are easily recognized by the darkened radiator grille trim and red tow hooks. The Yukon AT4 equipment includes air struts, additional protection for transmission and suspension elements, a hill descent assist system, and a unique Jet Black/Brandy interior color scheme. The manufacturer separately notes that in the highest suspension position, the approach angle is 32 degrees.

The GMC Yukon engine lineup includes three units. These are gasoline V8s with a displacement of 5.3 (360 hp, 519 Nm of torque) and 6.2 liters (426 hp, 623 Nm), as well as a three-liter Duramax diesel (281 hp, 623 Nm). The "eights" are equipped with a start-stop system and a cylinder deactivation function at low loads. All engines are paired with a ten-speed automatic transmission. The base drive is rear-wheel, all-wheel drive is available as an option.

The GMC Yukon will be assembled at the plant in Arlington, Texas, USA, where related Chevrolets are produced. Sales in the North American market will begin in the summer.
