Currently, on the American market, Lexus offers the LX exclusively in the 570 version, equipped with a naturally aspirated 5.7-liter V8 engine that produces 383 horsepower and 546 Nm of torque. For other markets, the LX 450d modification is provided with a 4.5-liter diesel engine developing 272 horsepower and 650 Nm.
If the company followed the usual naming logic, the LX 600 model should have received a six-liter engine. But neither Lexus nor Toyota currently has suitable engines with such displacement, and the appearance of such an engine is unlikely due to the global trend towards reducing engine displacement and stricter environmental regulations. Apparently, the LX 600 will be equipped with another non-hybrid powertrain from the Toyota lineup — for example, a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine with twin turbochargers and direct injection, which is already familiar from the Lexus LS 500 model. This engine produces 415 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque.
There is also an alternative point of view: the name LX 600 could have been patented with an eye to the future, for the next-generation SUV. The current Lexus LX has been produced since 2008, and talk about the development of the fourth generation of this model is becoming more persistent.
Perhaps official information about the Lexus LX 600 will be revealed as early as next week at the Tokyo Motor Show.
