The premiere of the new product took place at the Motorrad Days festival in German Garmisch-Partenkirchen, organized by the motorcycle division of the Bavarian brand.

It took about 10 months to create the prototype. Thus, the development of the concept car began even before the official premiere of the production X7 crossover, which debuted in October 2018.
The pickup turned out to be 10 cm longer than the standard model, and the length of its loading area was 1.4 and 2.0 m with the side closed and open, respectively. The car's design used composite materials, from which, in particular, the top, rear doors, and cargo platform cover were made. Thanks to this, the pickup turned out to be about 200 kg lighter than the production crossover.

In the body of the experimental car, the developers placed an off-road motorcycle BMW F 850 GS with unique wheel rims made of teak wood.
