Price said that the new generation M3 will receive a three-liter twin-turbocharged inline-six, which is already used in the X3 M and X4 M, as well as the xDrive all-wheel drive transmission borrowed from the M5.

In the standard configuration, the turbo engine will develop 480 horsepower and 600 Nm of torque, while the Competition version will offer 510 horsepower. The M3 will also be equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission M Steptronic with Drivelogic function and the M xDrive all-wheel drive system, which provides a 2WD mode — disconnecting the front axle, like in the M5 sedan.

Additionally, for the new model, the electric power steering and active dampers from the flagship model will be adapted. The brake system of the sports sedan will include 395-millimeter discs and four-piston calipers at the front, while carbon-ceramic brakes will remain an option. The standard equipment of the M3 will also include 19- and 20-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires.
