The new model was presented at the Opel design center in Rüsselsheim.
The concept, built on the lightweight platform of the new generation, is 4.06 meters long — 14 cm shorter than the current Mokka crossover. The silhouette of the compact SUV with its roofline echoes the small Adam hatchback. In addition, characteristic features include the absence of B-pillars and LED matrix headlights shaped like an inverted letter L.
The interior is minimalist: there are no conventional analog buttons or mechanical switches, a thin steering wheel is installed, and the fully digital instrument cluster is combined with the multimedia system screen.
Under the hood of the Opel GT X Experimental is an electric powertrain, the exact specifications of which the manufacturer does not disclose. Power is provided by a 50 kWh lithium-ion battery that can be charged wirelessly via inductive charging. Drive is to the front wheels. The car is also presumably equipped with a semi-autonomous driving system.
Opel previously stated that by 2021, about 40% of the brand's sales would come from SUV models. The company also intends to release electric versions of all vehicles in its lineup by 2024.
