The brand will now be presented as "young, dynamic, attractive and emotional." This information, citing Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diess, was disseminated by Automotive News Europe.
"Among young Europeans, Seat is better known than Alfa Romeo," notes Diess. "For my generation, this is a wonderful brand, but Alfa has been in decline for a long time. If you ask a person aged 25 to 35 about it, they won't immediately find an answer."
Volkswagen management believes that after updating the model range, including the appearance of a line of crossovers, Seat has more opportunities for development.
Volkswagen intends to attract sports car fans to the Seat brand with the help of the Cupra sub-brand. The Spanish manufacturer announced its launch at the beginning of the year. The first Cupra model was the "hot" crossover Ateca, which received a 300-horsepower two-liter turbo engine, all-wheel drive with a traction vector control system, adaptive shock absorbers, and configurable operating modes for the control electronics.
The rival for the Ateca will be the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, offered in versions with 280 or 510 horsepower (Quadrifoglio modification). The latter is equipped with a 2.9-liter bi-turbo engine and accelerates to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds, reaching a top speed of 285 kilometers per hour.
