The new model is based on the modular MQB platform, which also underpins the sixth-generation Polo hatchback. The length of the crossover, which will be positioned one step below the T-Roc, reaches 4107 millimeters. Consequently, the main rival for the Volkswagen T-Cross in the market will be the Nissan Juke.

The engine lineup will include three-cylinder turbocharged units with a displacement of one liter, developing 95 and 110 horsepower. They will be paired with a six-speed manual gearbox or a robotic transmission with dual clutches. The list will also feature a 150-horsepower 1.5-liter turbo engine and two diesel engines with a displacement of 1.6 liters, producing 95 and 115 horsepower.

Standard equipment will include a frontal collision prevention system and a lane-keeping function. Optionally available will be a virtual instrument panel, a multimedia system with an eight-inch touchscreen, and wireless smartphone charging.
