It was previously assumed that the model would be named Kodiak, but the Czechs officially kept the suspense until today.

The production version of the crossover, partially hidden under camouflage, was presented in April at a special event in Prague. The Czech company plans to fully unveil the new product at the Paris Motor Show in October 2016. Sales of the car in Europe will begin early next year. Production of the Kodiak will be established at the plant in the Czech city of Kvasiny, where the Roomster, Yeti, and Superb are currently produced.

Externally, the new model will replicate the VisionS concept, which was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2016. The car will feature LED lighting, a spoiler, alloy wheels, a small grille, and massive air intakes. The seven-seat crossover will be larger than the new VW Tiguan and Seat Ateca. The car's length will be 4.7 meters.

The technical characteristics of the crossover are still kept secret. It is only known that the VisionS prototype was built on a modified Volkswagen MQB platform. The concept was equipped with a hybrid powertrain with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 156 hp and two electric motors. The total power of the unit is 255 horsepower. The concept is equipped with a six-speed gearbox. The crossover accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.4 seconds. The maximum speed is 200 km per hour.

Apparently, the production Kodiak will use the same units as those installed on the VW Tiguan and Seat Ateca. These are gasoline turbo engines with a displacement of 1.4, 1.8, and 2.0 liters with power from 148 to 177 hp, as well as 2.0 TDI diesels (148 – 187 horsepower). The base car will be front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive offered for an additional cost. Depending on the engine, the Kodiak will be equipped with a six-speed manual gearbox or a seven-speed DSG.
