As the company claims, this latest development in the field of automotive safety is primarily aimed at ensuring reliable protection for rear passengers — and this in a wide variety of emergency situations. The unusual cage airbag has a U-shaped configuration and is located on the ceiling in the rear part of the body. The system is controlled by a separate processor that monitors the number of passengers and the mass of each of them, if, of course, they are present.
It is worth adding that Ford now uses new inflatable seat belts for rear-row passengers, which are available on the Mondeo and Explorer models.
