Daniil Kvyat became the culprit of two collisions with Sebastian Vettel from Ferrari on the very first lap of the race in Sochi. After the accident, the German was forced to retire from the race, and Kvyat received a penalty. As a result, the Russian could not return to the points zone, finishing in 15th place.
Earlier, rumors appeared in the press that Kvyat would leave Red Bull Racing at the end of the season. Now the Austrian team has stated that Dutchman Max Verstappen will drive for the team, and Kvyat will go to Toro Rosso. Currently, the 22-year-old Russian driver occupies the eighth position in the standings with 21 points. Verstappen is in tenth place – he has 13 points.

“Max has proven that he is a very talented young driver. His performance in Toro Rosso was quite impressive, and we are glad to give him a chance to show himself in Red Bull Racing,” said the head of the Austrian team, Christian Horner.
“Danya will be able to continue his development in Toro Rosso, a team he knows well. There he will be able to regain his form and show his potential again,” Horner noted.

Kvyat is in his third season in Formula 1. The Ufa native debuted with the Toro Rosso team in 2014. In 2015, he moved to Red Bull, replacing four-time champion Sebastian Vettel, who went to Ferrari. In his first season with the “senior” Red Bull team, Kvyat outscored his teammate Daniel Ricciardo and finished the year in seventh place in the standings.
He has the only podium for Red Bull so far this year: he took third place at the race in China, which took place two weeks before the Russian Grand Prix.
