The new model is built on the modular SPA platform, which was first used by Volvo for the second-generation XC90.

Presumably, the new model will get a range of 4-cylinder turbo engines from 190 hp to 320 hp, as well as an additional hybrid version with 400 hp.

The new Volvo S90 is equipped with an advanced Pilot Assist system for semi-autonomous driving. The system includes a neat steering assist effect, which allows keeping the car within the lane markings at speeds up to 130 km/h, and this technology no longer requires a preceding vehicle.

The interior of the Volvo S90 is largely reminiscent of the second-generation XC90 SUV.

The sedan will not be the only model in the Volvo S90 lineup; later, a station wagon will also appear. The premiere of the practical version of the car is expected to take place in January 2016 at the Detroit Auto Show. However, this information has not yet been officially confirmed.
