The public premiere of the new model will take place at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year, and sales will begin just a month later. Prices for the model will be announced later.
The new SUV has acquired a large radiator grille in the form of the brand's signature kidneys, different headlights, modified bumpers, and a different tailgate. The car also received a shorter hood and a sloping roofline. Overall, in terms of exterior, the car has come to resemble a reduced-size X3 model.

The interior of the crossover has also undergone some changes. Firstly, it has become larger, and secondly, there is an updated steering wheel, a different center console, and an iDrive infotainment system with a 6.5-inch display. The base X1 will be offered with fabric upholstery, while more expensive versions will have leather and oak inserts.

The engine lineup of the SUV consists of a pair of 2.0-liter gasoline units that produce 192 and 231 hp, as well as three diesel engines of similar displacement (150, 190, and 231 hp). Later, the Bavarians promise to include two entry-level engines in the range: a 126-hp 1.5-liter engine and a turbodiesel with 116 hp. Depending on the powertrain, the crossover will be paired with a six-speed manual or a new eight-speed Steptronic automatic.

Also, the equipment of the new-generation X1 will include an extensive Driving Assistant Plus safety package, including cruise control with Stop&Go, lane keeping assist, Traffic Jam Assistant, and a collision and pedestrian warning system with automatic braking in urban traffic.
