The British brand Morgan adheres to its own view of what a modern car should be: powerful, spacious, and at the same time economical. The company showcased its new four-seat model EvaGT at the annual Concours d'Elegance, held in Pebble Beach.

The craftsmen from Worcestershire remain true to their traditions. Under the elegant aluminum body panels of the 'Eva' lies an ash wood frame, covered with the same 'winged metal'. The base is a bonded aluminum chassis, as in other models of the brand: the Aeromax coupe and the SuperSports roadster. Lightweight construction is a priority for the British: the weight of the new model is only 1250 kg. For comparison, a Chevrolet Cruze sedan with a 1.6-liter engine is 35 kg heavier.

The second key factor of efficiency is a modern powertrain, because Morgan has been working in partnership with BMW for many years. Under the long hood sits a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine producing 306 hp and 400 Nm of torque. With such output (about 245 hp per ton), the EvaGT coupe accelerates to 100 km/h in no more than 4.5 seconds, and the average fuel consumption over the measured cycle is only 7.06 l/100 km.

Immediately after the premiere at the 'Concours d'Elegance', the British opened the order book. To join the queue for the unusual car, it is enough to make a deposit of 5,000 pounds sterling. Initially, it is planned to produce 100 units, but production is scheduled to start only in mid-2012. As for the final price, the manufacturer limited itself to a vague statement that it will correspond to the level of cars in this class.
