Previously, car owners could choose how long to keep license plates after deregistering or re-registering a vehicle, paying for this service daily. Now the rules have changed: clearly established tariffs and terms are in effect. There are three fixed options: 108 hryvnias for ten days, 324 hryvnias for a month, or 3153.60 hryvnias for a year. The amount already includes VAT (20%), but the bank commission is not included.
Another nuance should be considered: if the owner decides to re-register the car before the end of the paid storage period, the money for unused days will not be refunded. So planning should be approached responsibly.
When the service period expires and payment is not renewed, the license plates are disposed of on the 11th day or in the morning of the next day. Payments made under the previous rules after October 11 are no longer accepted. Those who have already paid under the old rules must contact the regional service center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs with a request for a refund.
The innovation also affected the reservation of desired license plate combinations. Previously, the reservation lasted ten days and cost 10.8 hryvnias per day. Now the term has been increased to 15 days, and the price is fixed: 162 hryvnias (including VAT, excluding bank commission).
The Ministry of Internal Affairs notes that the changes were made for convenience, simplification of procedures, and uniform tariffs for everyone. This should streamline work with individual license plates and eliminate the unsystematic long-term storage of unused numbers.
Now all operations for storing or reserving license plates can be done online — without visits to institutions, quickly and officially.
