Local media reveal the circumstances of the incident. It is reported that a citizen of the country, residing in Zurich, was driving through the municipality of Wollera in her Range Rover at a speed of 93 km/h – 43 km/h faster than allowed. Her speeding in a populated area was recorded by cameras, and as a result, law enforcement officers issued a ruling.

Since in Switzerland fines are calculated based on income and assets, and the estimated wealth of the said offender is valued at 12 million euros, the court ordered the woman to pay more than 370 thousand euros. The millionaire complained, and then the fine was reduced to 175 thousand. But since she had two more violations before that, the fine amount was still increased – to almost 200,000 euros.

By the way, Switzerland is not the only country where fines depend on income and wealth. These include, for example, Finland. In 2019, a local driver was fined 120,000 euros for speeding by 40 km/h, and another driver who did not stop at a pedestrian crossing was sentenced to pay almost 78,000 euros.
