According to the document posted on the official portal of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the technical inspection is now assigned to entities operating within the framework of the technical control department (TCD). The inspection procedure itself will be recorded on video.

Such principles of organizing the technical inspection were previously voiced, including by representatives of political circles, but now, apparently, they have received legislative consolidation.

The explanatory note to the draft resolution states that video recording is introduced to «increase the level of objectivity and transparency when passing the mandatory technical control of vehicles».

In case of successful passing of the inspection, a protocol on the condition of the vehicle will be drawn up at the technical control and handed to the driver. In addition, Ukraine plans to create a register with electronic documents confirming the results of the technical inspection.

It is worth recalling that the technical inspection in Ukraine was canceled in 2011 due to large-scale corruption in this area. Now the procedure is planned to be revived — this is a requirement of the association agreement with the EU. At the moment, it is known that new cars will be exempt from the technical inspection (their first check is expected only after four years), and used cars will have to undergo inspection once every two years. It is expected that the procedure will take about 40–60 minutes, and its cost will be approximately 1000–1500 hryvnias.

Earlier, AvtoPortal already published a material that described which cars will not be able to pass the mandatory technical inspection.
