The last Ford Mondeo will roll off the assembly line at the plant in Valencia, Spain, in March 2022 (that is, the car will remain in production for another year). As with the Fusion, the Mondeo is being retired due to "changes in customer preferences," Ford said. In other words, classic sedans are being pushed out by crossovers, which are becoming increasingly popular every year. For context, the market segment in which the Mondeo competes has shrunk by about 80% over the past 20 years.

Over the years, the Ford Mondeo has become a true legend. The car appeared in Europe in early 1993 as a replacement for the previous Sierra, and to date it has sold 5 million units. The sedan is also popular in Ukraine, although recently American Fusions have begun to replace it as "imports" from America.
In addition to Europe, the Mondeo is also represented in China, where the model will remain in production for some time (last year the sedan underwent a facelift). However, that is a completely different story.
The "blue oval" noted that as an indirect replacement for the European Mondeo and the American Fusion, they will offer a new model – a raised station wagon. It is expected that the new model will appear by the end of 2021, but under what name it will be sold is still unclear.
