Restrictions on holding mass events will last at least until March 15, and this period falls on the dates when the international motor show was planned in Geneva. As a result, the exhibition organizers announced the cancellation of the event at a press conference. Initially, the motor show was to announce the winner in the "European Car of the Year" nomination, open the exposition to journalists on March 3, and to the general public from March 5.

Money for purchased tickets will be refunded to visitors, and by March 7 it is planned to dismantle all structures already installed in the pavilions of the exhibition center. It was decided not to postpone the auto show to other dates, but simply cancel it.

By February 28, nine cases of COVID-19 coronavirus infection were recorded in Switzerland, but the largest outbreak in Europe is in Italy, where the number of infected people reached 655, and 17 patients died. The largest number of infected people is still recorded in China (78,824 people) and South Korea (2,337 people), where Hyundai and Kia plants have stopped due to this.
