In addition to the main category, the "Luxury Car/Sports Car of the Year" and "Green Car of the Year" will be selected separately. Also, this year a new category for compact models has been added – "Urban Car of the Year".
The winner will be announced in spring at the New York auto show. The current "World Car of the Year" is the Mazda MX-5 roadster.
