Engineers have refined the two-liter turbocharged engine, and now its power reaches 305 horsepower, with a peak torque of 393 Nm. The hot Subaru WRX modification is no longer offered with an automatic transmission, which has finally closed the debate about the need for such a unit. The WRX STI version is now equipped exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox.

The main novelty of the model is the Multi-Mode Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD) technology, responsible for managing the center differential. In standard mode, torque is distributed between the axles in a ratio of 49 percent to the front and 51 percent to the rear.
The driver can intervene in this scheme and select one of six DCCD settings. An automatic mode is also available, where the electronics themselves select one of three preset values, analyzing lateral acceleration, throttle pedal depression, and steering wheel angle.

In addition, the front axle of the STI is equipped with a helical limited-slip differential, and the rear axle with a Torsen mechanism. The engine has three operating modes: Intelligent, Sport, and Sport Sharp. They allow changing the response to the gas pedal and the nature of the power unit's operation.
Sales of the new Subaru WRX STI are scheduled to start in the spring of this year. The first to hit the market will be a special Launch Edition modification, with a limited run of a thousand cars.
