According to the local police department, in Michigan alone, more than a thousand such sedans were stolen over the past year.
Law enforcement officials noted that the Dodge Charger is indeed highly popular among car thieves in the US. Following this four-door model in the criminals' preference list are two other cars previously owned by the FCA concern, and now part of Stellantis — the Dodge Durango and Jeep Grand Cherokee.

It is noteworthy that Stellantis has already reacted to the publication of such disappointing statistics. The concern's response was quite brief: they stated that the factory alarms installed on Dodge and Jeep vehicles fully comply with American safety standards.
The police also noted that criminals steal not only used cars, but also new ones — directly from dealership lots. The greatest interest among criminals is in the "charged" versions of the Charger, particularly the Hellcat modification.
As Carscoops reports, in addition to Michigan, high theft rates are also recorded in other states — Ohio, Kentucky, Georgia, Illinois, and New York.
