The publication "Arguments and Facts" has released data based on infographics comparing the number of cars in the Soviet Union in 1991 and today. According to these materials, over three decades the number of cars has grown in almost all former Soviet republics, except for Tajikistan. As for Ukraine, its car fleet has increased almost fourfold.

Among all fifteen former republics, both in 1991 and now, the largest number of cars per thousand residents is recorded in Estonia. In that year, this small Baltic country had 138 cars per thousand people, while today this figure has reached 550 cars.
It is worth adding that the most common car in the entire history of the USSR remains the VAZ-2101, known as the "Kopeyka". Taking into account all variations of this model produced from 1970 to 1988, AvtoVAZ produced about 490 thousand such cars.
