It should be noted that DongFeng Mengshi is exactly a "licensed" Chinese copy of the Hummer H1. The concern signed an agreement with the creators of the Hummer, AM General, and initially assembled SUVs from American vehicle kits.

Then the Mengshi was modernized and some body panels were replaced, and now a civilian version has joined the military one. The vehicle is based on a steel frame, and the body panels are aluminum.

The first version to hit the market was the M50 – a cargo chassis with a two-seat cab. Later, a pickup and a four-seat SUV with a hard or soft top will obviously be added.

The DongFeng Mengshi is equipped with a 4.0-liter turbo diesel V8 Cummins producing 200 hp and a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. Naturally, all-wheel drive is complemented by a low-range gear and differential locks.
