The transition to new technological solutions, driven by stricter European emission standards, poses new challenges for automakers.

As ACEA President Michael Manley noted, the situation is complicated by the expected decline in demand for new cars this year.

"After six consecutive years of growth, passenger car sales in the European Union will decline by 2 percent in 2020," Mr. Manley emphasized.

The head of ACEA pointed out that the market decline is happening simultaneously with the European auto industry actively increasing investments in environmentally friendly transport.

Under these conditions, European car companies have appealed to authorities for active support of the sector to achieve a full transition to zero-emission vehicles by 2050.

The industry's key requests are to quickly create a widespread network of charging stations across the EU suitable for passenger and commercial vehicles, as well as to implement coordinated and economically justified incentive programs for buyers choosing both passenger and commercial zero-emission models.
