At his previous job at BMW, Duesmann was responsible for creating engines for cars of the factory team competing in Formula 1. Therefore, his transition to Audi was not easy: the choice of the brand fell on this specialist back in 2018, but a clause in the agreement with the Bavarian manufacturer for a long time did not allow him to start his duties at a direct competitor. The issue was only resolved this autumn, and in recent days Audi officially announced the name of the new head.
As head of Audi, Duesmann will replace Bram Schot, who joined the company in 2018, taking the place of Rupert Stadler, detained in Germany in connection with the diesel scandal.
