Over the twelve months of the past year, German manufacturers sold 10.3 million cars, which is 3.8% more than the previous figure. The Japanese, in turn, managed to increase their volumes by only 0.2%, stopping at the mark of 10.1 million vehicles.

The growth of Volkswagen is explained by a noticeably increased demand for the brand in China, which even compensated for the losses associated with "dieselgate". In addition, Toyota itself somewhat lost ground in the United States, and this market is considered one of the key ones for the Japanese brand.
