The methodology of this study raises certain questions, as J.D. Power and Associates specialists simply surveyed 41 thousand owners of cars manufactured no earlier than 2011, asking them to recall all breakdowns over the past 12 months. It is clear that the wealthier a person is, the fewer expenses they are able to recall.

Nevertheless, the results obtained are quite interesting, and the reliability rating has been led by Lexus for several years in a row. This year, the Japanese brand had three fewer malfunctions than last year: 68 breakdowns per hundred cars (71 in 2013).

Mercedes-Benz and Cadillac are only trying to reach Lexus, with 104 and 107 problems respectively.

For us, the second list is more interesting, where the most reliable models in each segment are evaluated:

Experts were also somewhat surprised by the increase in the average number of problems. Compared to 2013, there were 6% more breakdowns per 100 cars (126 last year and 133 in the 2014 study). Such a regression has been recorded for the first time since 1998.
