Cars up to $7000 with reliable engines: five models
In this budget, it is worth paying attention to naturally aspirated petrol engines with a displacement of 1.4 to 2.0 liters and simple transmissions.
1. Skoda Octavia A5
For Skoda Octavia A5 from 2005-2012, it is worth looking for the petrol 1.6 MPI BSE with 102 hp. The engine's lifespan can exceed 300-400 thousand km. It is compatible with LPG, and spare parts are affordable. Among gearboxes, the optimal choices are manual or classic automatic.
2. Toyota Corolla
Toyota Corolla E140/E150 from 2006-2010 was equipped with naturally aspirated petrol engines of 1.4 and 1.6 liters. The latter, 1ZR-FE, with regular maintenance is designed for high mileage. On early cars, it is worth checking the robotic M-MT gearbox.
3. Ford Focus Mk2
Ford Focus Mk2 after the facelift from 2008-2011 is available with petrol engines of 1.6 liters producing 100 or 115 hp, and a 2.0-liter with 145 hp. When inspecting Ford Focus Mk2, you need to check the steering rack, as well as the rear multi-link suspension bushings.
4. Renault Megane
Renault Megane from 2010-2015 was offered with the petrol K4M 1.6-liter engine producing 105 hp. The engine has a simple design, is inexpensive to maintain, and is suitable for LPG operation. On older cars, you need to check the body and electrical equipment.
5. Mitsubishi Lancer X
Mitsubishi Lancer X from 2007-2011 was equipped with naturally aspirated engines of 1.5, 1.8, and 2.0 liters with a chain timing drive. When buying Mitsubishi Lancer X, it is worth inspecting the paintwork and checking the operation of the CVT if the car is equipped with such a transmission.
