As Ford representatives note, the use of this technology helps significantly reduce CO2 emissions and achieve more economical fuel consumption.

For this test, the Norwegians took a standard Ford Mondeo estate equipped with a 1.6-liter ECOnetic diesel engine producing 115 hp. The route ran from Murmansk: Uaithil and Borchgrevink crossed all of Norway and finished in Uddevalla, Sweden. Over 40 hours, the crew drove 2,161.5 km without stopping for refueling. The average consumption on this trip was 3.2 liters per 100 km — noticeably less than the factory data. When the Mondeo ECOnetic was presented to the public, Ford engineers said that in the combined cycle the car consumes 4.3 liters of fuel per hundred kilometers.

It is worth recalling that at the Frankfurt show, Ford displayed the Focus Econetic hatchback with a 1.6-liter turbodiesel producing 104 hp, as well as the Fiesta Econetic model. The latter received a 94-horsepower 1.6-liter diesel engine and a Stop&Start system; its average consumption in the combined cycle is 3.3 liters per 100 km, and carbon dioxide emissions are 87 g/km.
