The best designers who developed the Slavutych TV set were involved in creating the ZAZ Slavuta. Hence the name. According to legend, they drew their inspiration from the Dnipro River when trying to quench their thirst after a successful evening.

What do the Slavuta and the Lamborghini Diablo have in common, who designed this car, and what does Papa Carlo have to do with it... watch our April Fools' test of the Slavuta:

The Bavarians claim that they created the newfangled body types. But we know that the BMW 5 GT and other liftbacks were copied from the Slavuta. The body gaps are perfect - a finger's width. Heard of component wheels? Here they are... the creators of this car were so concerned about customers that they decided to secure them with three bolts, forcing them to do wheel alignment every time they change tires or hit potholes. And the ground clearance? Forget about CR-Vs and Foresters... here it is, the ground clearance of a true crossover!

The interior is arranged according to feng shui. Nothing extra. Nothing at all, almost like in a Formula car. In the Slavuta, you are a pilot, so a helmet definitely won't hurt. After all, the safety level is the envy of the Euro NCAP safety institute. It could have earned billions by offering its upgrades after conducting more and more crash tests of the Slavuta. But the dummies wouldn't have survived it. Especially the driver, who in a crash must catch the spare tire hidden under the hood before it flies through him.

The seats are real buckets. Like an excavator's... the material is the best offered for kitchen corners at the Yunost market.

They say the dashboard is the fine work of maestro Papa Carlo. With a plane, he planed the right angles and gave the necessary contours in the image and likeness of a palen. The main thing is not to cut yourself... the plastic is also from Papa Carlo - wooden. When driving on cobblestones, it dampens any bumps better than the suspension. In the top Lux trim, like ours, the Slavuta even has a tachometer and rear window heating. In winter, the heater in the Slavuta works no worse than a potbelly stove. Too bad that in summer, hot air also comes from the vents...

People of any build can sit behind the wheel of the Slavuta. Regardless of height and weight, they will be as comfortable as in a child's high chair. As in the Lamborghini Diablo, there is no power steering or safety systems here - everything for the best interaction between man and car. The steering is sharp - the wheel constantly bites. Gear shifting is smooth - like stirring grease with a stick. As befits modern cars, the front brakes are disc... The designers did everything possible so that the owner could change the pads himself. You can go to a service station, but when replacing, you need to disassemble the caliper, so no one will take it on - so only yourself.

If the day off wasn't enough - no problem. The caring creators thought about the driver being able to spend the night by folding down the rear seat row.

The electric windshield wiper drive is very powerful, as is the wiper itself - as big as on a Mercedes in the 124 body. When you turn it on, you understand what power and strength mean - the moans of whales during mating season will seem like a whisper... Our car has the right engine, with a carburetor. There's also a choke. This is a unique function that allows you not to wait for the engine to warm up to the required temperature. Pull it out and go...

Over time, the Slavuta doesn't rust but acquires the look of rat-rods popular abroad. Being the owner of this car, rest assured - you won't have to do race walking. Cheap parts that require frequent trips to the auto market will help you stay in shape. But you won't spend much money, that's a fact. Over 60,000 kilometers, the owner of this Slavuta spent two and a half thousand hryvnias on it. A membership at a decent fitness club would cost more... Does the Slavuta have drawbacks? Yes. This legend of the auto industry has been discontinued. And except for the Zaporozhets, this car was, is, and will be the only Ukrainian development... and it once cost only 2,000 dollars.
