Adoption of this law will, according to the deputies, significantly reduce the wholesale prices for this type of vehicle. Currently, electric cars are subject to a 10% duty and a preferential duty of 8%.

The deputies explain their bill by the European experience of stimulating the popularity of environmentally friendly transport and the growth of electric vehicle sales worldwide. According to experts' forecasts, the number of electric vehicles in the world will increase from 138 thousand in 2012 to 1.8 million cars in 2020.

According to the authors of the document, the adoption of the new law will help stimulate the growth of popularity of electric vehicles in Ukraine and will allow bringing their average cost closer to the price of a regular car.
