This is stated in an analytical article prepared by "Autoconsulting". As our colleagues write, the EU has long needed to replace fuel commercial vehicles with electric vehicles.

Thus, the average age of trucks is 13 years, vans – 11.6 years, and buses – 11.7 years. Moreover, over 90% of such vehicles are equipped with diesel engines (for example, the share of diesel trucks of the total number is 98%, and diesel buses – 94.5%). The number of such vehicles on the roads is striking: for example, there are 6.2 million trucks, and 28 million vans.

However, the days of diesel and gasoline vehicles in the EU are numbered: according to the program adopted by European authorities, from 2025 newly registered commercial vehicles must have 15% less emissions, and from 2030 – 30%. Currently, transport accounts for almost a quarter of all CO2 emissions in the EU, and the Old World countries are seriously concerned about the current environmental situation. However, many commercial vehicle manufacturers (Ford, Renault, Peugeot, Citroen, Opel, Volkswagen, Hyundai, Volvo, Scania) have already added and continue to add electric vehicles to their model range.

According to forecasts by "Autoconsulting", decommissioned commercial vehicles will begin to arrive in Ukraine from Europe in about 3 years, when Germany starts mass electrification of transport (until the end of 2023, the country will test such vehicles on public roads and invest in creating the appropriate infrastructure). At the same time, in our country, old trucks, buses and vans, apparently, will be readily accepted: for a long time, there has been constant lobbying in government circles to lower environmental standards in Ukraine for commercial transport to the Euro-2 level. This will make it possible to dump all the "junk" from the EU into our country.
