Undoubtedly, this became a kind of record for the city. In November alone, 6,458 cars were sent to impound lots. According to Vitali Klitschko, an additional lot for detained vehicles with a capacity of 600 spaces even had to be organized.

Overall, thanks to fines for illegal parking, the city treasury gained almost 25 million hryvnias, with 2 million of that coming in November. True, the main benefit goes to companies that handle towing. To get their car back, owners have to pay about 2,000 hryvnias, while the fine itself is only 255–510 hryvnias.

Earlier, the main reasons why cars were most often sent to the impound lot were also published:

  • parking on a zebra crossing or in its immediate vicinity — 40% of cases;
  • stopping in front of exits from residential areas — 15%;
  • parking on dedicated lanes for public transport — 10%;
  • stopping near intersections — 8%;
  • creating obstacles for other road users — 8%;
  • parking in public transport stop zones — 7%.
