Why again? Because back in January, Autoportal reported on this method of "scamming" and gave recommendations on what to do if you find a padlock on your car.
But for the chairman of the Secretariat of the Cabinet of Ministers, Dmytro Chygrin, this type of fraud is a novelty.

"This type of fraud came to us from our eastern neighbors — Russia. Back last year, Muscovites were 'delighted' with such gifts. Now it's Kyiv. Bad example is contagious," the official wrote.
He also noted that you can 'buy' a key for 500 UAH.

Let us remind you once again. In such situations, under no circumstances should you transfer money to anyone. But you also shouldn't drive around with a lock on the handle, as you can damage the paintwork on the handle and door. Don't try to pick the lock or use a lockpick - it's labor-intensive and often useless.
The easiest way is to cut off the lock with a hacksaw or an "angle grinder," but of course, you might not have one at hand. In that case, find any rag in the trunk and wrap it around the door handle and the lock. Tie it tightly, or even better, wrap it with electrical tape. That's it, you can hit the road - to the nearest locksmith who will open or cut off the lock.
