The duties of the patrol and post service will be expanded to include control over compliance with traffic rules and the ability to issue fines for their violation.
On October 22, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the Concept of priority measures for reforming the Ministry of Internal Affairs and defined the Strategy for the development of internal affairs bodies of Ukraine. For this purpose, three additional regulatory acts were approved, which should initiate the implementation of the provisions of the Concept of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reform.

More specifically, the government approved a draft law of Ukraine regulating the possibility of liquidating a number of Ministry of Internal Affairs units: the Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime, transport and veterinary police, etc. All tasks of the liquidated units will be performed by a single structure, the creation of which is expected in the future.
In addition, according to a new resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, the mandatory wearing of a badge is introduced. This is necessary for the identification of any police officer on duty.

Traffic police units will be deprived of the function of providing administrative services. An experiment is planned on the basis of the traffic police in the city of Khmelnytskyi. During the experiment, traffic police and patrol service units will be merged. In addition, the preparation of a legislative framework for such a merger across the country is underway.
By all indications, police reform is beginning in Ukraine. The goals and objectives are quite clear: instead of a punitive body, it is necessary to create a modern European police agency. The task of this structure is clearly defined – to serve and protect.
