The working version of the technology will be demonstrated on the basis of the DBS Superleggera sports car at the CES exhibition, which will be held in Las Vegas.
The Gentex development is a complex of three cameras and a Full Display Mirror (FDM) interior mirror equipped with a built-in LCD screen. It displays a video stream, and the driver can choose different display options. The cameras are placed on the roof and in the side mirrors; automatic image adjustment is also provided, in which the viewing angle changes depending on the position of the mirror.
The FDM display is already used in the limited-edition Aston Martin DBS GT Zagato model. This coupe has a roof made of a single piece of carbon, and the rear window is absent, so the Gentex solution with one camera helps compensate for limited visibility and transmits a high-resolution wide-angle image to the cabin. The combined Camera Monitoring System (CMS) with three cameras will likely find application in future Aston Martin models.
